Dwight's Biography :
Dwight is a lifelong resident of Hartselle. He graduated from Morgan County High (now Hartselle High), and then married his high school sweetheart Jenny Yarbrough. They have two children Brooke Tankersley McHan and Nicholas Tankersley, and two grandsons Zeke and Seth McHan. After graduation, Dwight went to work in the family's auto parts business. He served on the board of the Automotive Aftermarket Association Southeast from 1993-2004. He served as the chairman of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors in 2000-2001 and as the president of the Hartselle Rotary Club in 2003-2004. In 2003, Dwight and Jenny sold the business to O'Rielly's Auto Parts. Dwight was elected mayor of Hartselle in 2004 and was the first re-elected mayor in over 30 years, when re-elected in 2008. Dwight was certified by the Alabama League of Municipalities as an Advanced Certified Municipal Official. As mayor, Dwight has recruited many new businesses to Hartselle: Lowe's, Premier Furniture, Captain D's, and Cracker Barrel, to name a few, and worked with existing businesses, which helped make Hartselle the city it is today. In 2012, Dwight decided not to run for re-election, but to concentrate on his Real Estate business. He attended the Texas Auction Academy and is a licensed Auctioneer (Alabama License # 5325). He has been designated a Master Auctioneer by United Country Real Estate. Dwight is currently a member Deacon Board at Fairview Church of God, and spent many seasons as a Dixie Youth baseball coach. Joining longtime friend, RaJane Hampton, United Country-Four Oaks Realty and Auction gives Dwight and Jenny a chance to work together again!
